About the Author and Illustrator

Heather Steranka-Petit lives in Akron, Ohio, USA.  She is a certified diversity professional and intercultural consultant who has worked successfully in both the international business and non-profit sectors. Throughout her career, she has been fortunate to work with colleagues and customers from more than 50 countries around the world.  She loves learning about different cultures and languages so much that she has studied Russian, German, Japanese and Spanish. 


She has developed curriculum and delivered training on the subjects of: Developing Global Competence, Managing Unconscious Bias, Cross-cultural Conflict, Economic Impact of Racism, Becoming a Culturally Competent Individual, Inclusive Leadership, Micro-aggressions, and Culturally Competent Organizations. Becky Says "Woof!" is her first children’s book.  


She is married to Tony Petit and they are the parents of three wonderful children:  Benjamin, William and Isabel.

Over the years they have also raised six dogs and six cats.  Becky was their first family dog and she helped inspire this book.
